  1. Do you know how to get stats from the lite hiscores? If you do, just take input for two names and a skill, parse the lite hiscores for each of them, and display it. But, erm, why not just use the one on the RS Hiscores?
  2. I fail to see how that would fix it -- I'm fairly certain you use the same version of Java to run standard detail and high detail. Anyways, I had the monitor plugged in to the onboard monitor port (right term?) instead of the one on my graphics card. That fixed it. :-P.
  3. I can't enter into high detail in RS. (I get the error message: "Could not enter into high detail."). Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (updated driver today, and that update was reflected in dxdiag, so I think that's all working properly.) Processor: AMD Sempron Processor 3000+, ~1.8GHz 2GB Ram Windows Vista Java is updated, Firefox is updated. I don't know why I can't enter into HD. Any ideas on troubleshooting?
  4. It says it's from http://www.alfapres.net/. There's nothing at http://www.alfapres.net/. Hm. That's weird. Oh well, you can't get anything bad on your computer unless you put it there, so just don't click "Accept" if it looks sketchy.
  5. Ask Santa for an external hard drive. Then use it.

  7. u got gud java? it's kinda weird that HD works but SD doesn't.
  8. "All soldiers kill civilians." "No soldiers do anything heroic." kay, u silly.
  9. You know, you download the microphone, start it, and just talk to your monitor. It's the coolest thing ever. ---. No. Go to RadioShack. Spend $10 and get a headset. Plug it into your computer. By then we'll have stopped laughing. Again -.
  10. Why don't you want to buy online? You can get some really good deals online, and if you're on a small budget, it might work out better for you.
  11. Brown. And that's looking good so far. :D
  12. I was just testing it, and it looks like the same CSS code handles them both. (Which means [hide] and
  13. And it's fun to build your own computer, plus you'll usually end up with a better system for less money.
  14. Grab some feathers, and start out like you're walking to the Grand Tree Village. Once you get to the bridge where the river is, go north a little to the fishing spot. Fish there, then run a few seconds east and sell your fish to Rasolo, and run back, fish, and repeat.
  15. Thanks! Oh, don't make it too big, I want to use it here. (I forget the signature limits, though. :P)
  16. Quick-tip: Compatibility shouldn't be something you're worrying about. I skimmed your post, and if you're spending $2000 on a new system, all the parts will most likely be compatible. :P
  17. My posts are pretty good, though... Anyways, I just skimmed the rules topic for this forum, and I didn't see any saying "You can only request if you have x amount of posts." If I missed that and there is such a rule, then please -- by all means -- close this thread. Thanks for the input, though. ;)
  18. Are you really a chef? Or do you work at McDonalds or something? (Just wondering.) -- I celebrate Winter.
  19. I'm wondering if anyone could make me a cartoon signature. I really like this kind of style, but anything that looks decent will be great: (That's Dark_Aura's) I want my character to be wearing a striped mime shirt, black pants, white gloves/boots, with a firemaking cape/hood on, and wielding a fire staff. It doesn't have to be obvious that I'm wearing a FM cape, but as long as it's orange, I'll be happy. I'd like the setting to be the FOG room (where people light fires), and I want my character to be in the foreground with some fire lit behind him. If you don't know what the FOG room looks like, it's basically a dark room with torches on the wall. The only text I want is "SkillingWoo" in orange with a yellow border. :-P. Anyways, I guess that's basically what I want. As long as it catches the firemaking theme and looks good, I'm happy. If anyone would do this for me, I'd very much appreciate it.
  20. I'd like to throw in my last thoughts. People need to realize that this (game/software development) isn't a one-track road. It doesn't really matter where he starts, or in what direction he goes. There are lots of opportunities to work in the same exact field, but use different languages. While I suggest C++, I also (er, I think I did) said that he'd need to learn Java eventually. Guess what? He'll also need to learn (or be pretty familiar with) several other programming languages. Does it matter which he learns first? Not really. If he isn't wanting to learn Java, he won't have fun learning it. In my opinion, if he doesn't have fun with it, it's a waste of time. That might be true for the first month or so of the learning process for whichever language, but when you actually get into the language, usually the only real difficulty you're going to face that might change between languages is how long it takes to write a program -- and if that's what you're basing your language bias on, well, then shame on you. Also, usually the languages that are "easier to learn" aren't as useful as the languages that are harder to learn. ;)
  21. Yeah, a psychological evaluation on a Runescape forum is not such a good idea. Which is why he should see a doctor...
