Veteran becoming newb. How to make money nowdays?

Featured Replies

Hey y'all!

I recently had a 2-3 year long break from runescape. Came back and first thing I did was play around abit with the, for me, new skills and then went for 99 str. Now I've made around 20-25m by just runite mining/farming herbs/slayer/barrows and various small stuff.

Now that I've gotten abit more update and basic equipment and stuff in possesion I really wonder where the big bucks and fast cash can be made nowdays? Runite mining has treated me well but it gets extremely repetitious and booring to just server hop and it's only good money on weird hours.

I've been seeing alot talk about avianses/God wars dungeon/Daggannoth kings and how they can skyrocket peoples wealth. But theese things are completely new to me so I hardly know anything about how to kill theese sons of cabbages. GWD sounds really intressteing, how would I get started and what equipement do I need?

If you have any other idea about how I could start making gold your tip is most welcome! Here's my stats:

I'd say your best bet is training slayer and go for 85 to get whips :] also mining runite ores are much better than in the old days because there are way more ores (i think there are like 10 rocks nowadays?) The first you should do is all quests anyway (in my opinion :] )

Well first I'd get defense up to 80; it helps you find groups for boss hunting a lot easier and lets you camp longer at profitable lower level monsters. Same goes for summoning, but that's a major cash drain so you can put that off till later. If you were thinking skills, maybe try rcing a bit but you seem to have the best skilling money down pat in your routine.

God wars and dks are basically killing kq hoping for chain, chance are if your luck are down, you lose money on supplies. (Can be over 9000 per hour or going negative...)

Aviansies are a way to train range and make a bit money (around 300k-ish/hour). They drop noted addy bar, which you collect and sell them, alch the other drops.

The main money making way is still good old green dragon killing and sell their bones. (500k/hour now?)

The new way of making money is camping GE and merching stuff, I dont really know how to do that.

Dont forget to get this http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=manage_thy_kingdom.htm up and running again. It gives 1mil+ for 15min of chopping trees, resupplying coins and selling stuff to GE each week.

there's 10 rune veins now? I only know about the 2 in wild, 1 north of neitiznot and 2 in heroes guild. Where are the rest?

I was not thinking about what skills/quests I should get other then what's required to make gold atm. I really wanna get enough for a DFS + bandos plate/tassets atm.

80 def sounds like an idea for GWD though... 85 slayer for KQ sounds like pain in the [wagon] >_<

What equipment should I go with if I try out avansies? And is my low range enough? (78) Do you have to go as range?

You said green drag killign and sell their bones.. do I keep hides or just forget about them? =]

... but you seem to have the best skilling money down pat in your routine.

What do you mean by this?

There are now 9 runite rocks: 2 in wildy, 1 in lava maze dungeon, 2 in heroes' guild, 1 north of neitiznot, 1 by the light temple from MEP2, and 2 in Keldagrim. The Keldagrim ones require completion of Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf. This quest also brought the release of the dragon pickaxe, which you might want to look into if you're going to mine.

I'm pretty sure there are some good guides for aviansie slaying in the AOW. You can't melee them, and range is preferable over magic for the lower cost.

Dragon bone prices went way up recently due to an update in prayer, so it may be more worth it to just keep the bones, but I'm no expert at that.

And for the last bit, I think he was referring to your runite mining.

Awesome place to start, just work on getting some of your lower skills up then see what there is there in that guide -- there are a lot of things that you can do that make a lot of money, even at relatively low levels. You would be surprised just how much money you can make.

I have no specific recommendations in mind, just peruse the guide I linked to above and see what catches your eye.
