Barrows Qiestion

With the current prices of Barrows equipment and my finances (or lack of) I have finally decided to do my first Barrows trip. After reading a couple of guides I decided on using a black salamander on the brothers. I also saw that Verac's armor was the selection on many of the guides. With that comes my question. Would Bandos Chest and Tassets be a viable replacement for Verac's? Or should I use some other armor?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Bandos wouldn't do so well, as it has relatively low defences and a lot worse magic attack bonus than Verac's. There's a reason that it's in all the guides -- it works, and it works well. Only alternative that I would offer (off the top of my head for that method) is Torag's Plate instead of Verac's brassard in case you're getting hit too much, but you shouldn't have a problem with that looking at your defence.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

Not necessarily, I do my Barrows trips in Guthan's armour rather effectively, it's much cheaper too, I wear this gear; Neitiznot helm, glory, qp cape, Guthan's platebody and chainskirt, black salamander, gloves (barrows), infinity boots, lunar ring, harralander tar. So you should be fine with Bandos armour.

If you own bandos and don't have enough cash left for barrows you should really sell it...

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Correct you are, but i also enjoy not having to pay to repair my armor... even though its on a massive decrease right now i doubt it's going to drop back down to 12m, which is when i bough both of them

Use salamander + ice barrage with full guthans and ahrim's top. Throw on the guthan's plate for kc/healing/karil. Bring super sets and dds/defender/whip for karil/kc. Pray against karil and ahrim, use range against ahrim, I recommend karil's crossbow.

Check to see if Karil is your tunnel first. Pray range, search the tomb and run out. If he is there use your super set and go back down.

Karil: Piety + Range Prayer - DDS spec and whip. If Karil is your tunnel proceed to Ahrim.

Ahrim: If you have leftover prayer go to ahrim next. You will have leftover prayer if you kill Karil in 4 DDS specs and 1 Whip attack or less. Throw on mage prayer and check if Ahrim is there, if he is then sip another dose and kill him. If he is your tunnel proceed to dharok. If you don't have any leftover prayer proceed to verac, torag or guthan, then dharok if none of those were your tunnel.

Dharok: If you have leftover prayer use protect melee for as long as you can, then use ice barrage and sidestep->kill. You can get in 4 attacks before the first prayer drain occurs, so enter quickly, turn on protect melee, attack 4 times then ice barrage. If you don't have any leftover prayer ice barrage right away and attack six times. After six attacks run behind the tomb, wait one attack turn and refreeze him, use ice blitz instead of barrage if he is less than half hp.

Guthan, Torag, Verac: Use one ice barrage, sidestep and kill. Do not use 2 ice barrages unless your hp warrants it. If you for whatever reason have prayer for these brothers, such as your first run where you start at 70 prayer, go to guthan first.

When in the tunnels, equip full guthans while you run through. Ignore all brothers, do not heal with guthans unless you cannot kill your last brother with your current hp. Kill the last brother in the chest room, utilizing the torches in the same manner is the tomb if dharok is your tunnel brother. Once you are done kill 3 additional monsters with guthans to heal up, for a total kill count of 9. If you need to kill more to heal up feel free to do so. Do NOT kill more than 3 additional monsters if you don't need the hp, it is a waste of time. By the way you will find opening the puzzle door is a pain. When clicking in between being attacked, its not about how fast you click the answer to the puzzle. It is entirely about when you clicked the door, in relation to the mob attacking you. For example:

A rat attacks you and 1 second later you click on the door. You click the answer to the puzzle in .5 seconds. The mechanism fails does not unlock.

A rat attacks you and .5 seconds later you click the door. You click the answer to the puzzle in 1 second. The mechanism unlocks.

It is entirely about timing clicking the door so that you click on the door just barely, barely after you receive an attack. If you do it correctly you can be really slow at solving the puzzle and still unlock the door sucessfully.

With this method I average a 6 to 6 and a half minute chest, about 10 chests per hour and 12 chests per trip. The inventory could be altered for a 16 chest trip but I like to bring placeholders. By the way my inventory looks like this:

[hide=Hi I'm a picture]

Replace the Karil's coif with a super attack, and a super strength pot below that. In other words 3 super sets, 6 prayer potions and the rest is gear/placeholders. Should use 1 super set dose and 2 prayer potion doses per trip. Oh and the gear you can't see me wearing is full guthans, fire cape, berserker ring, dragon boots, amulet of fury. I wear all that melee crap because I have ahrim's top, if you don't want to buy one which I highly highly highly suggest you do, wear a farseer ring, mystic boots and god cape instead.

Well that's about it for my method. Sorry if my explanations are very incoherent it's 4:30 in the morning and I'm very much half asleep. I planned on making a video guide for this but that's on hold for a while.
