January 23, 201016 yr The only part of advice I can give is; fork out for the better option it's gonna be much more reliable, and don't ever system restore from that HP section all it'll do is mess up your laptop, I did the same with my new computer and it had to get repaired after being bought 2 weeks earlier. This might help you for checking all your hardware and software:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/system-requirements.aspx?applyTTTracking=true Download the upgrade advisor and it'll tell you what's what Those with a little bit of knowledge are more dangerous than those with none.
January 24, 201016 yr A couple months ago I went through the same situation as you're going through now. Downloaded W7 from the same place, too. I recommend just going with the 32-bit. The process of OS-conversion had a few hiccups, but overall the actual transition wasn't too bad. Windows 7 works fine. Just back up whatever you'll want to keep like music and pictures on a flash drive or two. If you use a wireless adapter, try to make sure it's Windows 7 compatible.
January 24, 201016 yr Yeah and with 32bit it will be more performant, seeing the amount of RAM you have.
