watlol
I'm bored and I want a monster that I can afk pretty well at without having to check back too often. I also wanted to level mage a bit so...I figured metal dragons. Now, let's just say I don't get a visage: Would I break even from all the rune/dragon drops? About how much exp/hour will I be looking at? And last, is this just a stupid idea? lol. :v
Obtaurian
It's a pretty common way to train magic. You'll profit unless you're extremely unlucky with drops. Bring alch runes. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

First off, it's not a stupid idea, plenty of people train mage here, it's fun, AFKable, and breaks even for the most part. Depends what spell your using for the exp, what spell would you use? watlol
Any suggestions on armor/spell to use? Last time I trained, I used the fire chaos spell with chaos gaunts, but that was quite awhile ago, a year or more I think...so I'm pretty clueless atm  :v

It's cheap and effective, I'd say you average 30-50k exp/hour or so. The Idea of using a black salamander just popped into my head, as you can attack them from adjacent squares, so maybe you can attack them from a point where they only hit with the long range fire breath attack. I doubt it, but it's worth a shot?

I doubt it, but it's worth a shot? The Black Salamander is 2 handed, so unless OP can make/use Super Antifire potions i think its best to stick to normal spells. I like to throw out though that recently i have been maging my iron dragon tasks using Claws of Guthix in Kuradal's dungeon. It was taking me about 13 casts to kill one dragon, and i was breaking even for the most part. But that is banking all the bones, and sometimes i was able to profit depending on the rune drops and of course the dragon plateskirt i also got. JJG
This is what I did to get 99 mage from about your level or a bit lower, I used fire wave and started before visages were released, in about 100k fire waves I got 2 dragon skirts...Ouch.... Still fun though :)
