best way to kill these?

on axeman guide it says wear proselyte and pray but not very detail.

do i need much food? if any?

how many pp ots per run? 60 pray

bring alch runes?

or bob?

Thats all you need. Just pray and dont take any damge. They only drop runes, pure ess, and dragon boots. Nothing else is worth picking up or alching. Don't need a bob or a familiar as its overkill.

what does vestment mean? or what are they? if you mean a piece of zamorak yeah ill take a book.

Zamorak Vestments are titled under "Zamorak Robe" ingame. You want the Treasure Trail reward, bottom half. Not the bottom half of the pure red one from Underground Pass. Zamorak Vestments are red and white and their examine clearly labels them as "vestments".

 

Do NOT use a zammy book, the rune defender is far superior. You are only sacrificing 1 or 2 prayer bonus by switching from Prossy legs to Zamorak Vestments, while going from a zammy book forfeits a lot of attack and strength bonus.

All of that is a +40 prayer bonus.

 

I usually use 3-4 prayer pots for a task of around 200 mages.

 

Now, if it's your first time, take two ropes, one to get into the dungeon, and another to get to the saradomin area. First starting out, you get in the dungeon, head to the east, and go to the Saradomin area, and start killing the mages there. Kill these untill your prayer runs out. DO NOT restore your prayer. Once your prayer runs out, leave the Saradomin area, and then head north and cross the ice bridge to the Zamorak Area. NOW restore your prayer, and continue killing mages here. What this does is it saves you from getting your prayer drained heading the zamorak area right away. This way you actually get some killing done before you start using up your potions.

I personally pick up every single rune they drop, and even then, I still have room for 2 boot drops. You don't need a BoB, and actually you don't even need a tele, since you'll most likely get some law runes during your killing.

If you have 70 summoning, the grown up zamorak hawk is better then zamorak vestment, at least IMO. You get +1 more prayer, and don't have to buy the vestment then.

 

Only pick up Astrals, Nats, Pess, and D boots, and deaths/bloods when you have room. The time spent, prayer lost (unless you turn off between every kill) and low value makes the other runes not worth picking up.

 

DO NOT use stole. The attack+str bonus lost, not to mention it has prayer itself, isn't worth it.

 

AND DON"T KILL THE SARA MAGES. They are too slow.

Vestments (Saradomin Vestments exist too!) are superior to the stole because you can use a fury. I wouldn't try to go overboard on trying to conserve prayer. You usually have plenty of prayer and you are profiting anyway. Focus on speed. You'd probably save just as much, if not more, prayer by focusing on faster kills than squeezing in a few minuscule prayer bonus.

 

EDIT: Zamorak Hawk is useful as well, but having a pet is fairly cumbersome, and you lose the ability to use a familiar. A BoB could be fairly helpful, and a fighting familiar still have a good number of uses, especially finishing off weaker mages so you can move on. It's only 1 or 2 prayer bonus you're losing here, and you can always sell it back.

Ye Zaaps, but a familiar really isn't all that usefull until swamp titan+. Otherwise they die too fast.

Zammy bird does work, and you could always bring two familiar pouches. They're cheap anyway.

Only the grown one, the Zamorak Hawk, will work. All the other ones don't work.
