Force Logout Timer?

Featured Replies

What is the force logout timer? I was on for just under 6 hours and it kicked me back to the login screen.

Just wondering if that is what other people report?

Thanks in advance.

It use to be forever for a short period, but then Jagex made it to 5 minutes. Although I think it's longer for older accounts.

There are actually 2 logout timers.

One of the 5-minute timer, previously the 2-minute timer. This one logs you out if you are inactive.

The other one is ~6 hours, as the OP stated, and it logs you out if you have not logged out since the timer started going down. Every time you log out, this timer resets. I do not know if it's an unconditional logout, but some people say it is, meaning you'll get logged out even if you're in combat.

Yeah I was logged in continuously for 6 hours and then it logged me out. Guess it is also kind of there to help stop botting. And maybe Jagex is sending a message lol.

Yes, I agree. Imo it is most likely those two reasons, but I guess we'll never know for sure. The important thing, however, is that it's there :)

There's actually 3 timers.

The first one is the 5-minute logout timer. This is only if you are totally inactive during that time.

The second one is the 6-hour logout timer. If you stayed logged on for 6 consecutive hours, you automatically log out. You can still log back in though.

The third one, I'm not sure how long it is, but it triggers when you lose connection. It's about 20-30 seconds, I think.

Yeah isn't that one in affect for people trying to "force lose connection" maybe when in the middle of PvP to try and logout. It keeps you logged in for about 20-30 seconds to prevent people from cheating I believe.
