CPU usage 100%?

Featured Replies

Ok. Forgive me if I sound like a fool by doing/saying something wrong.

Now, when I open Task Manager, down the bottom it says CPU usage: 100%. I am certain this was never that high. Then I checked the exe page and found that the Java[Caution: Executable File]'s usage looked a lot higher than usual. This all started around the time when I got Firefox 3.6, I also seem to remember getting a Java update at the time too. Anyone know how to fix this and lower my CPU usage?

I run Windows XP, if that helps. :S If you need any other specs, feel free to ask.

It's not that uncommon to have Java fluctuate between 50% and 100% (sometimes I reach 120%), especially while playing Runescape. Given the information you described, it's likely that nothing is wrong. The only thing you could do is to try changing the CPU usage in Runescape via the graphic settings. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling Java. However, I am doubtful that this will remedy anything.

Nothing is seriously wrong here, but it won't hurt to try reinstalling java. What processor are you using?

Ugh. How do I check that? #-o

Anyway, it's fixed itself. For now.

I think it's Control Panel -> System. If it's fixed itself, it doesn't really matter now, just let us know if it happens again. :)
