Im level 83 fishing at the moment. Im catching monks at the moment but im considering switching to fly fishing at shilo village. Im just curious is it faster or equal in xp rates. Also should i bank or drop my fish? I also do sharks occasionally for a change of pase. Im hoping to get to level 90 then hope to profit of sharks maybe ? Thanks :)

You shouldn't consider fly fishing imo:

 

You should do monkfish for afk fishing and moneymaking (35k fishing xp per hour)

You should do heavy barbarian fishing for faaast fish xp (55k xp per hour if you use a rock lobster) + a little bit (5k) agility xp (you need mousekeys)

You should fish those living rock cavern fish when you want to make a very decent money (and it's good xp too but as you can't do them atm that's not an option so far) (can't give numbers on these)

 

Fly fishing should always be banked: you should use a familiar for more fish xp and the fish sell very well (I think last time I did these I had about 45k fish xp per hour)

I've never tested this extensively but you can use a bunyip to convert fish to water runes

the average # of water runes you receive is equal to half the hp the cooked fish heals

im not sure if this is an effective method though, but if you can convert them as quickly as you drop fish, it'd be better to do this than drop fish

the water runes you get from raw salmon/trout is worth about 3x more than the raw fish itself

 

This doesnt work with barbarian fish though

 

but yeah i wouldnt monkfish unless you have movies to watch or work to do while you're at it

the money is just far too horible

It's "impossible" to use raw fish as fast as dropping them with mousekeys on a bunyip. Also, I did enjoy my cash from monkfish while I was still doing them ;)

83-85- Shilo, to get you at 85 quickly.

85-90- Cavefish - Decent xp, money nearly shark level.

90+ Rocktail - Great xp, great money.

Is 85 a little early for cavefish? Or will my training still be effective? Thanks guys youve gave me a few things to think about.

As soon as I hitted 85 fish, I went to cavefish. I myself found the time to catch them is a little long, but the exp and money will make that up.

I thought on world 88, you don't have problems with the living rock creatures attacking you, cause it's crowded and used for mineral mining.

So maybe then the numbers will change, and you can catch a decent ammount of cavefish.
