I have a quad core 2.4 Ghz. What is the equivalant single core? For example a program requires a 3Ghz or faster processor. Will it work?

I'm not even sure they make single core CPUs anymore. Probably do, but I never look for them.

 

But anyways you will probably be fine. What program is it?

Yes it will work.

More and more programs become multi-threaded which is good. But you can't compare it to a single core cpu since those that are single core isn't as good as one core of a Phenom or i5 quad.
