Specs for Slaying and Bork Advice

Featured Replies

1. What would be the best weapon for using the spec bar during conventional slayer tasks? I'm leaning towards the EE for the heal and nice def boost, but I want to see what others think.

2. Is Bork weak to stab?

My current set up is

Full melee void

Defender

Whip

Glory

D boots

Ardy cape 3 (Right now for pray bonus)

I'm thinking of dropping the defender whip combo for a z spear as I hear bork is weak to that. The ardy cape will also compliment the spear.

I don't want to use karil's since I find mage def is pretty much useless as the mage never misses (My friend has also done countless of Bork with full armadyl and 90 mage and still gets hit almost every time).

If you can afford to spend 70m on a spec weapon, get SGS. I can do a large number of tasks without food or a healing familiar using only those specs, and if you use any sort of prayers on task it becomes much more valuable. If not, then using EE or DDS depending on whether or not you need the extra healing on task.

As for Bork, I never have a problem killing him using DDS, whip, proselyte, Soul Wars Cape, and so forth. Piety and protect melee should last the entire fight, and just bring a few monkfish to heal the damage done by the Dagon'hai and (perhaps) the ork legions. That and kill the ork legions -- only monster other than Bork with a 100% charm drop rate.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

SGS is best, although EE is most practical. You might also want a DDS for tasks where you don't need healing, such as Spiritual Mages or Aberrant Spectres

For Bork, use whip or GS.

KILL THE ORKS. Many players don't. They have a 100% charm drop rate and you finish them in 2-3 hits with piety. Pray melee and Piety during the entire fight. Run to the south-east corner or north-west corner (if the mage is near your start point) to avoid magic damage. During many Bork runs, I do not need food due to the mage wandering too far away.

Blargh that SGS alludes my 10 mil cash pile. Oh well.

I already kill the orks. I usually only fill my invent with tunas and they seem to suffice for the entire fight including orks. However, I'm not sure if I could piety the whole fight unless I switched my setup to full prossy. I guess in the end piety gives more of a boost than full void.

So bork isn't weak to stab then? I was really hoping to give my z spear more uses other than waterfiends. I also love the look and attack animation

EDIT: YOU CAN AVOID THE MAGE DAMAGE BY SIMPLY RUNNING AWAY FROM HIM?!?!

It's just that it doesn't matter a lot, the fight takes maybe one minute. Whip hits just fine;

Bladewing is quite correct about the claws, especially in kuradals dungeon. Outside her dungeon, I mostly use sgs, because that way I just bring some spec pots, and I'm covered for my food, and a big part of my prayer.

I use 40 ppoints/Bork run with Fighter Torso + Prossy Skirt praying Piety + Protect Melee and killing the Orks. Prayer shouldn't be a big issue here.

No, running away does NOT dodge the magic attack. However, the mage can only attack you if he can "see" you. So if he is mindlessly wandering and never targets you, he will never attack you, and thus you never get magic damage. It's important to know that the mage does NOT start the battle already targetting you, and he only targets you for 1 attack, then he loses "focus", so to speak. So by running to a corner, you reduce the chances of being targetted, and thus reduce the chances of getting hit.

I usually end up with around 20-30 points left starting with 75 prayer, but I think if I added some pray bonus piety could last the fight.

I definitely need to try running away from the mage on my next run.

I also can't afford claws so those are also out of the question. I guess it's EE or DDS then.

I agree with bladewing, I have owned and used both the SGS and dclaws for slayer and I now use claws. Although this is mostly due to me having 99 prayer (and thus soul split) making other healing meathods obsolete. Plus I bring spec restores on some tasks to defend multi combat zones from others. Ofcourse if you only have 10m and don't have high prayer then you're basically looking at either a dds or an ee, out of which I would pick the ee.
