Smithing Needs An Update

Hey everyone, this is my first EVER post on the Tip.it Forums, so I'm sorry If there are any little mistakes but I have a subject that I feel must be addressed not only but the community but by Jagex themselves. In the Recent Q&A sessions held on the Runescape official forums; I heard that Smithing was going to receive an update, and that's great - But I'm writing today to voice my opinion that the update should be more than an "activity" or a training boost for example.

 

I have never been a big fan of Smithing but I have friends on the game who choose to train their levels and I don't think that the cape of achievement is really enough on its own. Smithing isn't the hardest skill to train but it's certainly costly, and that's the first problem I have with the skill. The ability to craft Rune Armour would lose you money in game, and I for one don't believe that is right.

 

In my blog (click the link in my signature) I have explained that a while ago, a high smithing level would reward the player who gained it with more than simply a cape. And this could be the same for skills such as cooking (although perhaps for a skill so damn easy, to make masses of money would be ridiculous). My point remains the same though, we need an update that turns this system upside down so that you would make a profit (however small) on your way to 99 Smithing. Because I'm tired of having to BUY skills.

I agree that we need smithing to be updated. I love the skill, no matter whether it'd make me 200M profit or cost me 200M to get it to 99. It is my favourite skill on RS, however it's dying tbf. Though I think that Jagex will release a smithing update soon enough what with constitution.

Uh...shouldn't this be in rants? You didn't exactly offer a suggestion, just stated the need for a solution.

 

Anyway, I agree that smithing needs to be upgraded.

So... where's the suggestion? Anyway, Jagex claims to be making a high-end smithing update.

 

If cooking had useful high-end content it wouldn't cost 1m to get it to 99. Look how the price of herblore went up when it became useful.
