85 Herlore

Well ever since the herblore update I've been wanting to get 85 so I could stop having to use my wimpy anti dragon shield, I am currently 60 and I was wondering how much it might cost to get 85 and also what might be the best thing to make or maybe a guide or something.

Well potion prices vary a lot, but usually these potions are pretty good to make:

Super energy

Super restore

Super defence

Ranging (sometimes)

Magic

Once you hit 83/84 you should start making recover specials, with greenman's ale if you need to. Expect to spend at least 25 gp/xp and up to 30 gp/xp. That'll put you at about 75-90m.

To be honest I wouldn't throw money at herblore til you can buy 88 for extreme attack and strength (with greenman's ale). Super antifires are good, but they aren't worth 90m.

It works well enough if you want extremes. Just stew and remember to log out before boost drops. But if you want extremes, you might as well get 92 and just do overloads...

Also, if you play around with the market a bit, you can make a profit getting herblore xp by cleaning herbs. No, it isn't the fastest xp, but you can manage a profit, a real rarity in herblore. I go back and forth between making potions and cleaning herbs, mostly depending on if I have the money to dump into making potions at the time.

Also, you can easily just get 84 and use greenman's ales to get the boost needed for super antifires. That's what I'm doing at the moment, but I do have a goal for 90 something, depending on just how high I want/need.

Really, with herb cleaning, it can make money, but it might just kill your wrists. I would recommend balancing that with making potions. Just make sure that you have a consistent source of income which you can use to pay for the potions (for me, I use herb farming and bolt fletching, but you can use whatever you want to make money).

Depending on the market, a lot of the cheaper potions can be very efficient -- at the moment, I believe that prayer potions are the most efficient (considering both cost and time) outside of the extreme potions.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

They are if you kill dragons a lot. They make a lot more difference than extremes do.

Maybe if you mêlée... but if you range/mage from a safe spot they are superfluous.

EDIT - I should qualify that and say range/mage non-metallics (blackies, blues, reds & greenies). The metallic ones will lob their candy corn breath at you.

Well the point of super antifires is efficiency, so if you're using them, you won't be ranging/maging in the first place

Well, they help a bit for maging and ranging as well, though not as much as meleeing, true.

But for meleeing they make a night-and-day difference.

Personally, I don't think it's worth getting 85 herblore JUST for Super Antifires. Might as well go the extra few yards and go ahead and get 88.
