April 16, 201016 yr I have downloaded a few brushes that I'd like to use on Gimp, but I can not install them. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have looked it up and they all say the same thing, extract the files, copy/cut them and find the brush folder that Gimp uses. I do all of this, paste it into the folder, it "transfers" but does not go into the folder, what am I doing wrong? I'm using Windows Vista 64-bit (upgrading to 7 this weekend). They are Gimp brushes and Photoshop(but 2.6 can use the photoshop versions), I am completely clueless, any help would be greatly appreciated Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! April 16, 201016 yr Go to the folder called .gimp-2.6 in your home directory, under that directory there should be a folder called "brushes". Paste all the brushes in that directory, I'm not sure if GIMP searches subfolders for brushes so that could be your problem too. Restart GIMP and they should appear with all the other brushes.

April 17, 201016 yr In that case I suggest you check that GIMP is actually checking those folders. Open GIMP, go to Edit->Preferences, click on the arrow by the icon on the bottom that says "Folders". The first option in the expanded list should be "Brushes", click on that. There it should have a list of all the folders where it searches for brushes, you can also add your own folders for it to search.
