Clan questions

Okay I just have a couple questions concerning clans.

Now the first online game I played was 'Guildwars', and the 'Guilds' were simple to form, next was Wow, and again, pretty simple to form a guild.Now I come to Runescape, and we have Clans, easy enough to understand, but how is one formed.

Is a clan simply the formation of a clan chat channel, and all who are regulars in the channel, are the members of the clan ? Or do you go to a NPC somewhere in the RS universe and say I want to start a clan ?

This is where my confusion stems from.

There's no real official mechanism. Usually what people do is create an account with the clan chat name they want and use it for administrative purposes. Then everyone just goes there.

Most of the management of the clan goes on outside of the game, either on the runescape official forums or on other fan forums; not to mention the fact that many clan chats are not designed to be operating clans but just chats for friends.

That(what was said in replies) is basically what I gathered in game, I just wanted to be sure I had it straight.

Now I can stop searching for the 'Clan NPC'....lol.

There are various types of clans, the better ones (In my opinion) have their own site, IRC, and audio. Theres no place to register a clan except for on fan sites.

 

Forming a clan depends how much effort you want to put into the clan and the type of clan you are making. I'm sure there are several clans that can function fine with just using in game cc.

Ok, you got informed clan chat mechanism isn't the node of a player clan. Though it's very usefull.

It's an ingame hability that also can be used with other player for group activities (like boss hunting, to manage how the drops are split).

Clan chant is also a nice ingame tool for clans to share ingame message to all member in the same time.

since it's only typo, it's not very fast. That's a reason voice tools are also good to have for fast organisation. Those tools are not available in game.

 

Same for clan communication. IRC is a nice clan chat alternative that is great to use along runescript bot.

And finally, for web communication (forum and other support), your clan will have to find it's own host.

 

So : managing a clan is a lot more than only a wish to build a player group.

it require to learn many techniques to make it communicate with ease.

it requires also some strong and clear rules so that everybody will go the same way.

and finally it requires a real project that will require a lot of time to make it work... it's all up to you of course.
