What is the exp per hour mining at the monastery south of Ardougne? I was thinking of teleing there with the achievement cape as I've seen suggested in other threads, and teleing to Cwars to bank when I'm full. Would using a Pack Yak be better than using a mining boosting familiar?

Well the rock formation isn't ideal there. Using pack-yack would be decent experience more so then a mining familiar I think. After level 50 mining or so you 1-hit iron anyway, so there isn't any benefit from having +mining levels. Use glory's tough if you have them. Wearing one increases gems and the teleport is free.

 

Don't forget varrock armour ;)

I don't know about the xp per hour.

 

But the Pack Yak would be better as you get iron in 1 hit 99 of 100 times with a rune pickaxe meaning you don't need a mining boosting familiar.

If I'm mining there should I mine each rock in turn or just use, say, three of them? I did about twenty minutes of mining and got 10k experience, so my figures are a bit lower than I thought. Is this a better way of banking iron than at Piscatoris? I want to use the ores for smithing.

Pisc is the better option. An easy way to improve your speed is to simply use a world with more people.

In all the runs I posted in zaaps's guide, I never broke 30k/h, and this was with mining in the 70s, cwar banking and varrock armour 3.

 

Surprisingly enough, when I used a t-bird it helped by less than 5%, but with a pack yak I'd imagine the improvement would be a lot more significant.

 

However, I still liked this spot, even though I admit the pisc area is better.

 

Pros:

-Much less common area = less competition

-Further spacing of rocks lessens necessity of a full world

-Less fumbling around with kyatt teleports at cwars when there are like a million familiars there

 

Cons:

-Slower xp

-More movement, slightly more concentration

 

In the end, expect a 10-20% xp loss per hour if you want to bank.
