lpinkus
oh yeah and im preety shure runescape is not 3d because in normal 3d titles, the enviroment moves and not the character, but in runescape your character moves and not your enviroment. and dont say its because its online, because mmorpg's like lineage and city of heroes, your enviroment moves. same with halo and socom stuff like that.[/b] I understand what you're getting at, but remember than real life is 3d (I whink everyone agrees on that), and when you walk somewhere, *you* are moving, not the world. Well, the earth is spinning and all, but let's not get nuts :) Anyways, it's 3d as far as I'm concerned. lpinkus

When a plane takes off, in the plane moving or is the world moving away form the plane? Jeez, understand the principle of camera placement. moving the camera is not moving the world. willyhenriksen
easy explanation: 3d means "three dimensions" thats how many dimensions you can see, take a cube, if you look at it in a special angle you can see three sides of it, 2d: you only see flats, that means you can see ground and one wall. runescape: you can change angle and you can see roof and two walls of a building at one time, that means runescape is 3d. malo2
Dude, the original Doom series was considered 3d  it was considered 3d because of the way it was drawn. Today, 3d is the way its made, diablo 2 and legend of mir are 2d (but some models are 3d, simply like classic, omly switch what is 3d and whats not), even tho theyre drawn 3d, 2d means layers, 3d is perspective. malo2
Ok lets take a look at this picture of 2 Indentical rock outcrops in the mining guild. (You can sheck out the rocks youreself if you want to they are at the souther wall.) Now I'll paint a few pixel in that picture. The red line through the wierd yellow guy (me) is the zero line. The 4 red dots are the 2 places I've measured from (the places are the same places on both outcrops) those were the most left pixels of both the rear and the right rock on the lowest possible compairable line. The yellow ones are to show the distances between the red dots. Ill explain the blue line later. Now as you can see the red dots on the right outcrop have 15 pixels between them, while the left outcrop (who is furter away from the zero line) Has only 8 pixels between them. The blue line shows slight deformation in the outline of the most left rocks of the outcrop. If I would move 2 squarres to the right it would change the line on the right outcrop to the one the left one has at the moment. This change goes smootly as the 3d engine generates what is to be shown, because it generates it at the spot. If it was a 2d engine and it would run as smootly as runescape does it would need something between 20.000 and 25.000 premade pictures (profided it doesn't have any animation in it.) for every item. And I think if Jagex had to make all of those for every item in RS2 would be out in like december 2103. Classic used like 1 picture for every item, and like 20 (8 for movement and some for fighting) for all characters. Simple elements like walls where I think even generated by a 3d engine in classic. (if you load Classic it does say loading 3d models.) So classic wasn't even 2d. Perfectly explained what perspective means!! Lastfm
