June 29, 201016 yr I swear anti-static wristbands are overrated. Doing it in a room that doesn't have a carpet will normally do, since the action of opening the case will remove any charge. ~ W ~

It gives you safety, knowing you won't fry your new graphics card. And removing the case will not remove the charge, you need a plain unspoiled metal surface for instance, to remove the charge. It won't hurt to have, but its seriously nbd. If you bought the right card you should be able to simply swap the cards out. What is plugged into the first one, plug into the new one. If the new card requires more 12v inputs you might be in trouble if you dont have them.
