Cr8zE
i have tried it all.. dozens upon dozens of things.. clearing cookies and all that tried it nothing has worked.. i play through AOL 9.0 optimized.. i can not use the internet outside of what AOL offers.. (i have tried to get firefox ect. none worked) i have even reformatted.. nadda.. my computer has all the right settings... this is my last resort! My steps to start 1.) go to website 2.) play game 3.) high detail (i even tried low) 4.) choose world (ive tried them all) 5.) it starts to load.. 6.) java message apears i click ok.. 7.) loads monsters ect. 8.) it freezes at the "connecting to game server part" 9.) error pops up.. Here is the error i recieve when i try to get into runescape.. Error 105 - Unable to connect to game server. Runescape was unable to connect to the game server. This is most likely caused by a firewall blocking the connection. To resolve this: If you have firewall or security software installed please ensure RuneScape/Java is allowed to open outgoing network connections on ports 43594 and port 43595. Note windows-XP service pack 2 has built in firewall software. If when loading RuneScape this asks if you want to allow the connection, you need to say 'yes'. If that doesn't help then an external firewall may be causing the problem. Please ask your network adminstrator/ISP to open ports 43594 and 43595 for TCP traffic. If problems persist then please refer to our technical-FAQ which can be found in the FAQ section of our website. HA, i called dell.. they didnt know.. AOL, tried helping didnt know.. JAVA, nothing.. idk any whizs out there? lend me a hand!? -Cr8zE
Guest andyizcool
I know Windows Firewall lets Java through because it lets anything through unless it's a really serious hijack or something. I do remember playing with my modem's firewall settings and on low security it blocked Java so I'll need to config the custom settings sometime. So maybe you could somehow config your modem's firewall if it has one with config settings or AOL's dodgy software is doing it to you.
indy500fan
i know this doesnt exactly solve your problem, but its something to think about, and you may find your problem doesnt exist anymore. AOL sucks. and its more expensive than some aDSL services. AOL (last time i checked) costs $23 a month. you get 56kilobits/second, and with the government restrictions the most you can get is 53kilobits/second. if you ever connect at 53kilobits a second, it will be a miracle. most of the time its half that. check out your local isp providers if you still want dialup, you could probably get a service for 10 to 15 a month, and connect around 40kilobits/second average. if you dont mind being in a contract, and its available, look for verizon's dsl deal, at $15 a month, you get 756kilobits a second. plus, you can talk on the phone while surfing the web. i know i would get that if it was available (and i didnt already have my 3megabit/second connection, good speeds for dsl), but getting a local isp would be better than aol. blade995
Do you have AOL parental controls on? If you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re on anything besides Adult it blocks whatever it thinks is bad. I agree with indy500fan AOL sucks. Slow, useless features, bad customer care, and a lot of problems. If you do cancel AOL, good luck. When my mom went to cancel the addon service of it we had (she liked the email), she was on the phone for a half hour with them trying to persuade her to keep it.
