The Chaotic Maul...

Featured Replies

Right, even though the majority here says the CR is the best overall, I've become taken with the CM. I won't be changing my mind, at least not to either of the other melee weapons, but I'd still like to know more about it and how it stacks up to non-Chaotic alternatives.

Is it better than the Abyssal Whip for general situations? I should certainly hope so, but I've got a feeling the answer is no.

I don't often slay using melee, but ignoring the cost of using the CM, would it be better than the Abyssal Whip there?

Is it better than the Abyssal Whip for ZGWD or BGWD? - That would probably be solo.

Is it better than the CR or CLS in Castle Wars?

The thing here is that with the CR or CLS you can use a set of Decorative. I could probably get tier-2 Decorative armor, which provides 15% damage.

Since you must wield the Decorative shield to get the effect, I would likely use Bandos armor with the CM.

Please also list any niche uses the CM has.

No, whip is better than rapier

Whip is better at zammy, maul is better at bandos.

Not familiar with cw

Only thing CM is useful for is bandos, sara, or pvping.

Thanks, but surely the CR is better than the AW for slaying? That must be a typo...

PvP is really the only combat I use melee with, aside from Dungeoneering and the occasional Spiritual Mage task.

The Castle Wars question was the most important of the bunch, though... :(

I don't know if you ever PK but I've seen people using it as a KO weapon very effectively. Just something to keep in mind.

Yea, I meant whip was better than maul lol. At castle wars, against people in bandos, I would think that maul would be better, but against mages and stuff, I would assume whip is.

Normally I would assume so too, but it's that 15% damage boost with one-handed weapons that's got me wondering.

It sounds like you're planning on doing a variety of things, so you should really get the rapier, but the maul will be useful (and fun) for most of the your purposes (with the exception of slayer). I believe Totalpwnage (I think that's his name) posted a solo Bandos vid where he used a maul and timed his hits against Graar's so that he could flash soul split.
