in regards to the quest section where you put apperently 10 raw or cooked mackerel into the chest to get into the town you only need 1 cooked mackerel to get in

You got two things mixed up.

 

You need 1 edible food to enter the village (that is what you said)

 

However some people need 10 raw/cooked mackerel to put in the chest to restore the general store.
