All posts in a thread.

I think that you should be able to view all of your posts within a thread, being a tavern regular I find it pretty difficult to sift through posts to find what something I posted a long time ago.

You would view your posts like a thread but it would only have your posts in, I've used the hegemony thread as an example and used it from the example of Doomsavenger (thought you wouldn't mind).

 

If she chose to look through all her posts in the hegemony thread she would find a new thread but it doesn't have posts from anyone else, only her posts will be shown.

 

To access this you just need to open the place where you find out how many different people have made in a thread and then click on your number of posts.

 

This would be helpful to me, a lot of other people in the tavern and of course all the off topicers who usually will say things like 'but you said that....'

I agree, that would definitely be helpful. However, the admins are very busy and implementing something like that, while not the hardest thing in the world, would take some doing.

I agree with Y_guy. It would be a great addition to the Forums, but it would without a doubt take some time to implement.

 

Also, what theme do you use for Firefox, it looks pretty cool.

This, pretty much. While it would be a nice feature, I honestly can't imagine us having time to implement this. It would take a fair amount of work to do, I'm sure, and we have a lot more pressing matters to take care of that will take a while yet to complete.

It would be really helpful and I'm sure it would just consist of a code like the 'find posts' expect it would work on a smaller scale by finding users post in a thread, it would be really useful to us in the tavern, a lot more useful

You already have the option to search for a user's posts on a specific forum, however not in a thread. And you can search within a thread normally anyway so in my opinion it wouldn't be too hard but don't quote me on that as I'm not sure at all.

No, that only searches post text - for example searching "Y_Guy" in this topic brings up Bows' post only, because he mentioned my name.

I support. Does IPB have a forum? If so, you may find someone who has done this and is willing to share the code.

Well ideally what would have to be done(I don't know IPB's codebase at all) is simply using whatever function they have to generate a topic, but changing the query to return a list of posts by one user in one topic, rather than all posts in that one topic.)

 

It really depends on how simple it is to recreate topics from scratch like that - and as IPB probably isn't as mod friendly as phpBB for instance that may not be an easy feat.

It is not hard to do at all, its an incredibly simple job that contains a couple of lines of code, IBP has a help email I assume.

You have intricate knowledge of IPB's codebase I assume, so you have the authority to say that's a "couple lines of code"?

 

I believe they have forums, try posting there and requesting this feature for their next release.

I've seen the code in PhBB to view all posts by a user, I assume you would just add to that and convert it to IBP.

My point was that without seeing IPB's code you can't assume that. PhpBB is meant to be easily modified and extended - so functions often exist to facilitate that.

 

Plus, IPB could handle posts and topics in a completely different manner then phpBB does.
