tripsis
The problem here is that you can't start to reply until the limit is up. This is bad for people who have phone/device browsers that don't support quick edit, or for when you want to reply to a post.As I believe was previously stated, when we moved from phpBB to IPB, we lowered the flood control from 60 seconds to 45 seconds as a compromise when this inconvenience surfaced. I still think that's a fair compromise :) Unfortunately we're never going to please everybody. We have to find a good balance, keeping in mind that flood control is annoying but it also has benefits (which have been previously stated). The rest of the admin team and I still feel that 45 seconds is fair. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
das1330
That requires a Moderator / Super Moderator / Administrator being active, spotting it and taking them out pretty much instantly. If they post viruses or shocking/offensive images, that can be spread around the forums very fast. Those of us wo have dealt with those situations with the 1 minute timers, can tell you that it can be bad enough. 15 seconds is not an option right now, and as Tripsis said; the Administrators have discussed this very recently (because of this topic, actually). You are stuck with 45 seconds for now, changes might occur in the future. :) As luck would have it, I have dealt with such situations under a one minute timer. Granted, my memory is a bit dusty but I don't remember porn/virusbots being a particularly common issue, or one that was terribly difficult to clean up. While I do understand the reasoning behind the given timer I don't think the issues presented merit such a long wait.
jasignhagj
How about lowering the timer for everyone with over 100 posts? Under a 60 second timer, no spam bots would make it that far without being caught.

Smapla
i suggest that you be able to go to the compose-new-reply page on a topic even if you've just replied to a topic, but not be able to actually post that content until the 45 seconds are up. this would make it impossible for people who are copy / pasting spam adverts to post faster than currently, but would make it less annoying for people who just post fast or are answering a lot of simple questions quickly.
