I am interested in recording my computer's audio and video output, along with my voice (like in software tutorials and "Let's Play" videos). CamStudio does exactly this, but there's a minor problem: although it records my voice pretty well (using the microphone option), my computer's audio is barely audible at playback. Cranking up the system volume or the microphone seems to help a bit, but I can only increase it so much until I get an ear-splitting audio feedback. The speaker option records the audio very well, but it ignores any microphone input.

 

Is there any way to reliably record both the computer's audio and my voice? I'm guessing that one solution is to use an external microphone (to remove the audio feedback) with the "line in" option. Has anyone ever tried this?

I am using Windows XP, by the way.

If you have a soundblaster card based on the EMU10k chipset, then the KX drivers, mixer and routing may provide enough flexibilty, not seen anything else which has anything other than "choose one input" for recording
