Apocalyptica: The 7th Symphony

7th Symphony is the seventh studio album by the Finnish cello metal band Apocalyptica. It was released on August 20, 2010 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, August 23, 2010 in the rest of the world, and August 24, 2010 in the U.S. and Canada. Released three years after their previous album Worlds Collide, Apocalyptica has stayed with the tradition of having 4 tracks with featured vocalists, the remaining tracks will all be instrumental. Dave Lombardo of Slayer will once again be featuring on drums, on the track entitled "2010". The first single "End of Me" with Gavin Rossdale of Bush on vocals, was premiered on Finnish Radio Ylex on June 7, 2010. It received radio play June 28, 2010[2], and its release date is set on August 6, 2010 in Germany[3]. The track "Bring Them to Light" was originally written for Worlds Collide, but both Duplantier and Apocalyptica were unhappy with the original, and so they decided to re-work the track, and re-record it for their next studio album[4].

The album is available for presale on their official website in two versions. The original album contains 10 songs as opposed to the limited edition which includes 12 songs (additional tracks being "Through Paris in A Sportscar" and "The Shadow of Venus"). The limited edition also includes a bonus DVD with filmed acoustic recordings from a session at the Sibelius Academy in Finland, recorded on June 4, 2010. The iTunes bonus track "Spiral Architect" is a cover of Black Sabbath and will also be featured in the free CD available with the September 2010 issue of Metal Hammer.

What do you guys think of them? I first learned of them through their renditions of Metallica. While some of their lyrics are pathetically emo, I love their music in general. This new album, is not genius, nor even outstanding as they put it. But it's still a very nice album. The end of me is a really stereotpyical song, and a poor choice for a single. I really enjoy On the Rooftop with Quasimodo, Sacra, Rage of Poseidon, and despite the E-mo style [bleep]y lyrics, Broken Pieces.

Love Apocalyptica? Hate Apocalyptica? Don't know Apocalyptica? Well here, have a listen!

I've always that they could've been REALLY good, but I don't like what they write.

I'm excited about this album. I really enjoy listening to them, and I hope this album is good.

I think last hope is my favourite track, but thats also because I'm a massive slayer fan and Dave Lombardo did drums.

I never cared for Apocalyptica. They have a lot of potential, but dont live up to it.

I agree as well. While I love the band, they stay in their comfort zone and it doesn't produce the best quality.
