In the Death Plateau guide ( http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2quest_id=69 ) it would be wise to avoid confusion for some players to add this after step 2:

 

Altough it is possible to give Harold Asgarnian ales before talking to Ehoric it doesn't get him drunk.

Redundant information.

The guide tells you to talk to Ehoric first as it is a required step.

 

If you didn't talk to him when the guide told you too its your own flaw not the the guide.

Its a given the guide gives you all the required steps, it shouldn't need to list fail safe "tips" for if you skip a step.
