shawn3090
!!!WARNING!!! LARGE IMAGES BELOW (1600x900) Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge firefox fan. However, I tried this new IE9 beta and it seems to draw way less power. Picture 1: Computer idling. (Look at power meter on taskbar: This is lenovo thinkvantage tools, which I find to be very accurate compared to the Windows one)[hide][/hide] Picture 2: Running IE9 (The power meter updates rapidly)[hide][/hide] Picture 3: Running FF 3.6.10 (I used to use 4.0b but I tested this with 3.6 vs 4.0 and 4.0 drew even more power. Sorry, no pics)[hide][/hide] Picture 4: Idling again[hide][/hide] Also, CPU-Z reported my i7 running at 1320MHz with IE, 1280 idling, and 1720 on FF. [hide=Stats][/hide]"One death is a tragedy. Sbrideau
IE9 uses the gpu power, which isn't implemented in Firefox 3. Just out of curiosity, how did you make IE9 work on your computer? Mine just crashes as soon as I fire it up.

Mine just crashes as soon as I fire it up.Yeah, the difference in gpu usage could make a difference in terms of CPU usage, though according to shawn3090's post Firefox 4b (which also uses the gpu) used up even more, but pictures of that would be nice.on your curiosity question, try starting it in safemode and disabling the addons as some will cause IE9 to crash, for example the original Runescape Toolbar puts IE9 into an eternal loop of crashing unless you kill the process via the task manager(which only gets rid of the IE9 window, it will crash the next time you start the browser) or disable the addon (only possible through the IE safemode under system tools, or by opening an Inprivate session) Thanks to DrCue at DeviantArt for the signature source
