October 31, 201015 yr We switched to a new server and after a few days a small amount of members aren't able to access the new site (they have access to the old site only). They flushed their DNS as well as tried the whole trick with the hosts file. It appears to be some sort of a DNS problem since they're able to access the site on a proxy server. However, as I said, we've switched over for 4 days and they still don't have access. Any suggestions on how they can get access to the new site other than waiting it out?
October 31, 201015 yr Have them use another DNS?8.8.8.88.8.4.4 Google's, I use them all the time when I need a static DNS because they are easy to remember. EDIT: That would tell for sure if it is a problem with their DNS. If it is they can keep those DNS or they can just use the IP address of your website (sometimes, if your website is the only one on that IP...)
October 31, 201015 yr seems like it would be an issue with their browser cache not DNS, as the host file should resolve a dns issue (the host file is what preceded DNS, and it bypasses the dns for resolving domain names [typically things more directly controled override more automatic functions: IP>hostfile>internal proxy server/internal dns>Regular/external dns]. personally I use it on my home desktop for assigning a text name for connecting to my router's management page). I would suggest clearing the cache for the page(either by using the browser's general clear cache function, the force reload shortcut, or atleast in the case of IE 8+ use the F12 developer's tools clear domain cache function) Thanks to DrCue at DeviantArt for the signature source
