Persistant Graphic problems

Clear the runescape cache

Or turn graphics settings down as you clearly dont have a gpu tht supports something rs is trying to use.

I have played RS on the highest resolution for a long time now and never had these problems.

I play much more demanding games on this computer with little or no problems at all.

The current GPU I'm using is the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS with the latest driver installed.

A games general demand level doesn't cover specifics.

Eg when sims 3 came out many people could run much more complex games, but not sims 3 because their graphics card didn't have the specific pixel shader element it uses

That explains it a little bit more, which is frustrating as I do not plan on updating my GPU just for Runescape.

Also how do I clear the 'Runescape cache?'

^^ To the above post, occurs usually after about 15/30 minutes of play. It does NOT affect any other games I play.

Search your drive for 'cache' and see what turns up, then delete the right one. That's what I do anyway :P. It has a fairly obvious name iirc.

I have found 32 'cache' files relating to Runescape, should I delete them all?

Could using 'Swiftkit' be the problem?

Thanks again, John.

That's odd. If it starts happening after a little while, it's usually a sign that your graphics card is starting to age. But if it doesn't occur on other games, that's probably not the case.

Deleting your cache might work, though I think it's unlikely, since your problems don't occur right away. For me, my game cache is located under C:\Windows\.jagex_cache_32\runescape. You can safely delete the entire folder, as far as I know.

You could try to change your display mode from OpenGL to Direct3D, or vice versa, in-game. You can access those via the "custom" button in the graphics options menu. If that doesn't fix anything, you could try tuning down various graphics options. While your PC may have handled RS just fine in the past, the game engine has steadily been changing, and something might've changed that causes issues.

Swiftkit, hrm, I don't know. Probably not, but I have no idea how Swiftkit determines what Java to use.
