Every time I try to send email I get this message

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject '', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

 

The last email I was able to send was on Dec 20, 2010; I have tried changing the ports disabling firewall and antivirus, I have verified all the email settings. I am at a loss.

Is the port number in the outgoing mail field set to 465?

Try changing the server name to smtp.att.yahoo.com

I will try that tomorrow; does it matter if I do not use AT&T (I use Cogeco)?

Oh, if you're using Cogeco and you're in Canada try smtp.cgocable.ca. or smtp.cogeco.ca

Both of those did not work.

Can't think of anything else, have you phoned Cogeco up to see if they can help you?

I do not like the interface, with all the ads, news clips and requests for chat it feels unprofessional and spammy
