Hey,

Well, atm I have 3 computers in my house, on a linksys B router. I'll be re doing 2 of those computers within the week, and am interested in going wirless. If you wouldn't mind, I have a few quick q's and problems regarding this issue:

1. Do I need to get a wireless adapter as well as a wireless router per computer? (1 has a wireless card, so thats fine, the other two don't. Do I need a wireless adapter even for the computer with the wireless router, for a total of 2 adapters, 1 router, and 1 card?)

2. I currently have 2 networks set up, both of which are completely messed. How do I get rid of these networks entirely? I want 3 standalone computers to rebuild my network from scratch. I don't want any hint of a previous existing network on any system. How do I get this done?

3. Any noticeable differences from the wired linksys B router to a wireless G (108mbps) router?

Thanks a lot,

Ok , your post was a *bit* confusing but I think i figured it out hehe

Yes , every computer that you want wireless will need it own wireless adapter

No , you only need one wireless router (helps to get one with a 3-4 port switch built in , just in case you ever need to go wired for some reason)

No , you really shouldnt notice any file transfer speed difference compared to wired , as you're network will still be transfering data faster then your broadband connection (unless you're on a dedicated OC-3

(although wireless G is 54MBps , you stated 108 , B is 11MBps)

If you are running XP/2000 , just right click My Network Places and go to "properties" , from there you should be able to remove and/or reassign the network connections you want to connect/configure :)

i will suggest that you DEFINATELY read up on how to secure your wireless connection , especially if you live in a well populated area , my neighbor used to have a very unsecured wireless connection that I could technically connect to and use anytime i pleased , until i helped him correct it of course , I'm not the mischieous type

Hope that helps
