I got my first Level 3 scroll when i was killing a blue dragon, i did the treasure hunt for it and when i got the crest containing the "goody", only to my disbelief i manage to get another scroll inside the crest...i was like wdf? has this happen to anyone else?

If I understand your question, Yes. There are between 4 and 6 clues in a treasure trail. You must complete each one in order get the reward.
