Swiller2
First off I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I recentley upgraded my Blackberry to a Droid X. The battery life is rather minimal, even with settings set to maximize battery life.I was wondering if anyone on tip.it has a Droid X and has spent the $50 to buy the extended life battery? If so, is it worth it? I have had previous phones where I bought the extended life battery with little to no difference. Don't want to throw away money! Thanks for any input/ advice :)
Sy_Accursed
The on to watch out for with droid phones is all the syncronisation settings.By default they all refresh the weather news stocks etc etc apps like every 5minutes and it utterly rapes the battery life. Swiller2
I realised that right away, so I have the settings on maximum battery life which prevents apps/widgets from auto sync. But still seems like a really short life, even if I don't use it much.

RichardG
I wonder if there are any small apps to automatically do these things. Visit my Toolscape blog
Sy_Accursed
I wonder if there are any small apps to automatically do these things. Getting an app to extend battery life is counter intuitive. To work the app must run, by running it sues memory etc which uses battery life. Swiller2
Thanks a lot Brandon917, I will implement your methods and give it a try before I go spend the money for extended battery. But, like you said I do have unlimited data package for DroidX so I can use all of its neat apps/widgets/features.Hopefully your method will result in some more battery time! If not I guess I'll shell for out the 50 for new battery.Better work if i do. :P I have been using Blackberry for so long it's like a whole different world when it comes to this phone lol Thanks to everyone for their input!

Having an app like a task killer to stop apps from running in the background would save battery life. My Droid 2 Global doesn't have great battery life either. I think it just comes with the smart phone territory. Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew

I think it just comes with the smart phone territory. True but a task amanger isn't quite the same as a battery life extending app; there are a few of them about all scams. And yeah smartphone territory is a bit iffy battery wise, the tech is ahead of battery tech.Blackberries fair well mainly cause in terms of ebing a "smartphone" they are miles behind. Android phones generally you're talking about 2 days usages per charge if you don;t do alot.Wifi, phone calls and gaming and ur looking at a day per charge. Albel
Im just throwing this out here as well. I had the same issue with my HTC desire. Went to my cell phone provider and they told me an app to download call "advance Task Killer" My phone runs apps that are not needed sometimes, they just start up when I use the internet or twitter; this lets me kill apps that are not functional for the phone to work. For example, if I was to go on facebook for five mins and browse that app would of course work. Once I would close out the app, you would this it would shut down, but it doesn't. It keeps running even though you are not using it or can see it on the screen. Add like 15 or 20 other apps and really does kill you phone battery. Try this app out and see if it works for you, [hide=Quotes]Albel/JustinAlbel doesn't say anything anymore, just comes in, leaves an arrow and vanishes into the night :(Probablypractising some euphoniumYou nearly had me fooled, you fooler youEuphonium/10.9/10. To me, always associate Albel with musical stuff in OT.Everyone with a goatee and glasses is Albel now.lmfao albel m8 wat r u doin, hi though.
