Don't mind my OCD.

 

 

 

I know a lot of people don't utilize the following tag:

 

[member=name]

 

but for those of us who may, would it be possible to have the displayed name reflect that user's staff/rank color (if appropriate) ?

 

In example, @tripsis is an Admin, but the name that is displayed is just normal text.

 

 

As it stands right now, if you want to display that person's name in the appropriate color (aka @tripsis), you have to memorize/look up the hex color for that rank, and type:

 

[color="#AA0000"][b][member=tripsis][/b][/color]

 

Anyway, I know this is really insignificant and you guys have other important things to do, but as someone who uses this tag a lot, it would be a nice change if possible.

Edit: In addition now that I think of it, is it possible to have these tags somehow automatically update when users change their display name? To carry on with my example, if Ashley were to change her display name, instead of saying "tripsis" it would just display a big blank spot because it no longer recognizes who that user is.

This would indeed be a nice addition :) I'll see what we can do about it!

 

Although the second part of your suggestion (the edit) doesn't sound very likely to happen, as it seems like it would be a lot more complex.. and I don't even know if it's possible! But I'll still have Peter take a look :)

Second part, like tripsis said, would require back end code changes including the bbcode parser(i assume) and database - so I have to say I think that's unlikely.

 

Considering the rank colours are a custom mod already i doubt it would be easy to implement the first part either :(

None of this is really important haha, but it would be nice if the colors could eventually be implemented as time/coding permits.

Unfortunately both of these are a no :(

 

The first idea would be difficult because the rank colours are already a custom mod, which makes any changes not easily done.

 

As for the second one.. well it's easier for me to copy and paste :P

 

And then secondly, we can't have a post physically update when some member or something changes their name as the post content is stored in its formatted form *and* the bbcode form, but only the formatted form is shown. So once it's been formatted in the first place, it won't change until the user edits the post.
