Playing Xbox 360 on a PC Monitor.

Featured Replies

Is is possible to use a computer monitor to play Xbox 360? I'm thinking of a cable that has a VGA port on 1 side and an HDMI on the other. I looked on Bestbuy but all they had was a converter kit or something like that which costed well over $100. I was thinking more along the lines of like a $10-$20 cable.

Hmm more expensive than what I thought but how would the sound work? The monitor doesn't have speakers and the only speakers I have go into a headset port which I don't believe an xbox has.

If your monitor has DVI, it's better to use a HDMI - DVI cable.

I used to play Xbox on a computer monitor, and nowadays almost all of them come with an HDMI port as well. Make sure yours doesn't have one before you go about buying something like that.

I'm not sure what DVI is, but I know it does not have HDMI. The monitor is quite old actually, probably near 5-7 years.

.

There are Xbox VGA cables. Grab one of those. Probably like $20 off ebay or something

This. Sound is another matter however since neither VGA nor DVI carry sound; you'll need to get a separate cable to carry sound for the speakers.
