question on searching

Featured Replies

im not too sure where to post this so if i get it wrong please just calmly tell me. anyways in the search page of this website it has some guidelines on how to search without some words in it and it says use "NOT". ive tried many ways of this but cant figure it out.. e.g i want to search for posts without the word "selling" in it, what do i type to allow this to happen? thanks for any help i can get

1) this all depends on what site you are searchin, make keywords differ from site to site.

2)Make sure you KNOW the keyword, and know the proper syntax of the keyword.

3)what site are you trying to do this on

the site is this one. what i mean is at the top of the pages there is a search thing u can click on and after u click on it, it says:

Search for Keywords:

You can use AND to define words which must be in the results, OR to define words which may be in the result and NOT to define words which should not be in the result. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches

and the feature i want to use is the "NOT" feature to search for posts. e.g. i want to search for posts without the word "selling" in it. what do i hav to type in order to do that?

It should work like the other words....

For example if you want to search for Dragon Dagger but want to exclude the ones for sale. Search something like the following

Dragon AND Dagger NOT Sell* NOT Buy* NOT Sale*

The above gave me 613 matches.

If I remove the NOT's and just search " Dragon AND Dagger " I get 695 matches.
