Which familiar to use at DKS?

So I want to solo mage Rex, I've done it before, just not for awhile. I just recently got 68 summoning so I want to give it a go again and I was just wondering would it be better to use a bunyip for the healing abilities (makes it so I don't have to buy/bring guthans) or should I go with a war tort for extra pots/drops? I'm leaning towards the bunyip because I'd rather not have to heal on spinyolips and also I don't need to have a never ending trip to have fun.

 

On a side note, I use void mace + claws of guthix w/ charge usually, is the Staff of Light now better to use with a different spell?

Staff of light with Fire Surge is the best, although I'm not sure what's the best at level 80 magic.

Also, bunyip should be good but if you want to last really long, bring a war tort and once you've gotten everything out of it, summon a bunyip.

tort first, than fruit bat.

you should have time between spawns to get a few papaya from the scrolls.

papaya heal 8 hp.

use void mace+charge you'll get crashed with anything else at 80 mage.

I'd use tort and push that extra bit for a fruit bat, you'll still need guthans/brews (I even need a little healing at maxed stats with unicorn if I get a dry run without fish) but it'll be much less often.
