Go into Evil Dave's basement (in the house north of edgeville bank) with your cat. Use your cat to chase hellrats and get spices, then add those to normal stew to make spicy stew.

Catch hell-rats with your cat in Evil Dave's basement, and they'll drop a one to four-dose spice of varying colors. Note that if you plan to stew often, it is very much worth it to do the quest required to obtain a Wily Cat. These have about a very high success rate with catching hell-rats. A regular cat has a much lower success rate, making the process much more frustrating.

Red Spice is completely worthless, as it only raises combat stats. Supers/Extremes are better and quicker to make. Don't even bother picking these up.

Brown Spice is used for Woodcutting, Farming, Fishing, Mining, and Herblore.

Yellow Spice is used for Prayer, Agility, Hunter, Slayer, and Thieving.

Orange Spice is used for Smithing, Crafting, Fletching, Runecrafting, Cooking, Construction, and Firemaking.

Of all the spices, orange and brown are the two ones you definitely want to keep. To make a stew, you add three doses of spice to it. This gives it a chance to raise/lower your skills by the maximum amount of 5. Theoretically, it can do 6, but that is so rare that most people have never even seen a +6. From my experience, it's about a 1:4 chance of being a +3, 1:6 chance of being +4, and about 1:10 chance of being +5.
