Sy_Accursed
I've had this occur with several different speakers on several different computers and wondered if any techy folk knew how/why it happens and how to avoid it. Basically periodically my speakers, specifically the one with the controls on (so right atm, but has been left on older sets) just starts to have a white noise type crackling sound issuing from it non stop unless the computer is actually playing a sound. Nothing on the system is changed and no sound is actually playing it'll do this for a few days/week or so then stop again for months. jasignhagj
If the speakers are using an analogue connection, it's possibly interference from something. Try moving the cord and plug around next time it happens to see if that's what it is.
Sy_Accursed
There's nothing to interfere with it and as I covered it comes and goes periodically with no system alterations. Swiller2
I have noticed a similar occurence happening on my speakers. I noticed that if I have my cell phone near the speakers, like within a foot of them, it makes that kind of sound right before/after I send/recieve a text. Or if I get an email, basically any data transmission. Also it seems to be louder on whichever speaker the phone is closest to. Sometimes it's brief bursts other times its constant untill I move phone. Maybe that's what you are expieriencing also? Either way it is most likely some kind of electrical interferance from something near the speakers. Also it could have something to do with the electrical outlet the powerstrip/speakers are connected to.
Sy_Accursed
It's not my phone, my phone is in same palce it always is and its not that sort of loud interference burst its just white noise. It can't be the power strip/plug as it's been plugged into various locations from moving it about in my house and at uni home. That's the key point it CANNOT be interference as it is constant white noise when the speakers are on for a period of days and then does not occur for months. Nothing is in a new position or anything. Guy
The one with volume control will have some kind of variable resistor I think or something similar, which could create a magnetic field thus messing up that speaker in particular. I think its just time to get new speakers. RIP TET "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Sy_Accursed
But they aren't even that old, and it comes and goes; its not like the constant 100% of the time never stops just gets progressively worse crackling that old speakers where the volume or w/e has buggered them up.Only had em ~2 years and ~7 months of that my desktop was at home while I was at uni and was never plugged in, let alone turned on. OldJoe
Maybe one should suggest emailing the manufacturer support before declaring them dead. Guy
Maybe one should suggest emailing the manufacturer support before declaring them dead.Goes without saying. Seeing as they're 2.5 years old though, I'm not sure that you'd get much benefit from having them fixed for a price (out of warranty, I assume) instead of buying a new pair.
