Sapphires cost around 7 gp/xp with ~225k xp/hr, emeralds 8 gp/xp at ~305k/hr, and rubies 14 at ~390k/hr. Making them into jewellery would cut the losses depending on the price of whatever you make. Hardleather bodies are slower, but cheaper. Not sure on xp/cost rates, but these also depend on whether or not you use SC tools.
