Don't get the 99s one at a time. Try to get all skills to 50, 60, or even 70 before you get your first skill to 99, then go from there.

This. I would go for all stats 70 first, then level everything 1 level at a time from that point on. This is what I've been doing, and it breaks up the monotony of grinding skills and gives you less of a chance of burning out.
