A REALLY Nooby Question

From a few days ago defragging my computer, I saw that my computer only had 38% of disk space left, knowing that in the near future, it would become only double digit.

Taking this in mind, I thought about resetting my computer. But the question is how? I'm a person who you may say knows the basics of computers, but not the advance yet.

So my question is how can you reset a computer, erasing all but the OS. Which I currently have Windows XP. I don't want to take the time deleting things one by one. Just everything at once.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Boot up your computer with the Windows XP CD in your drive. It should let you reformat :)

Or if you bought your computer from the store, the manufacturer may have given you a CD (Hewlett Packard, for instance) for recovery.

just for future reference its called formating your computer.

Restarting is like shuting down your computer and it automatically instantly turning itself back on, re-starting

Well 'resetting' is what I called it. But with the CD I have recieved from the manufacturer, it only cleared things on desktop, but things in Program Files, for example stayed intact. Or am I just doing it wrong?

Did everything in Program Files stay intact? With the Sony Recovery cd's I have it automatically installs stuff like Yahoo Messenger and SonicStage, stuff like that, but it wiped everything else.
