tyluke
Well Im back, after several months Ive re-subscribed to members and Im back in the game. While fishing at Pisctoris this idea popped into my head and I wanted to share it with you while I fish away :) to get level 80 fishing. Its a relatively simply idea but I think itd be a good one none the less. Unfortunately I dont know if the game code or hardware is relevant to my suggestion, and if it is please inform my poor informed soul. :) The Grand Exchange is the trading hub for the entire game, located in Varrock. The Grand Exchange works in a way players bid their items/money to be exchange for items/money. When the transaction is complete players may collect the items/money at the Grand Exchange, or from a friendly nearby banker. Most players will place their buy/sell bids on the exchange and go about their day until the bid is fully completed, at that time they will proceed to the exchange or a bank to claim their money/items. I think we could simplify this.To remove the inconvenience of having to go to the Grand Exchange to change your current bids, or make new ones; why shouldnt it be possible to make bids from the same locations that have the banker collect option?I know going to the exchange is not a significant inconvenience, but I think this is a good idea because it would simplify a system everyone uses; and make it more accessible across the game. An example: I fish fairly often at the Pisctoris fishing colony. I would much rather bank my items with Arnold (the banker/shopkeeper) and change/make bids with him, rather than fairy ring or teleport my way to Varrock and back again. The final benefit to removing the Grand Exchange would be the space the original exchange took up. In its place they could put in a new mini game, perhaps an agility course, a new neighborhood, quest space. I dont know whatever theyd like to throw in there! Ultimately I want to hear your opinions! only 2 skills below level 50 :)
Atom Smash40
I think the reason for not making the GE more universal is that beside being a central trading hub, the GE is also a social location where new RS friendships can be formed. If one could access all the features of the GE from anywhere in the RS world, that defeats the purpose of interacting with your fellow player. ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~

I agree it is a social hub, but I typically think people meet other people while training, questing etc. the GE is simply a place people shout their bids on the GE. However people may obviously have had different experiences than me. only 2 skills below level 50 :)
Atom Smash40
I can see where you are coming from; Seers used to be a skilling hub and Falador used to be where merchants would peddle their wrares. I too miss the old RS where nothing was done for you and if you needed some obscure item for a quest you most likely needed to make it yourself. However, I can't imagine an RS without a central GE being fun. Making the GE "globalized" just admits that the game has become an efficiency grind and the only purpose is to do things in the quickest manner possible in order to reach 99 as soon as possible. ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~
tyluke
I'm getting the general vibe people would like to keep the Grand Exchange idea because its centralized. what if perhaps they made 2-3 major hubs. perhaps one in Arodounge or Yanille? only 2 skills below level 50 :)
Kaida23
I think the reason for not making the GE more universal is that beside being a central trading hub, the GE is also a social location where new RS friendships can be formed. If one could access all the features of the GE from anywhere in the RS world, that defeats the purpose of interacting with your fellow player.Because of ad bots, no one has their chat on in the GE anymore (at least not on F2P worlds) so there's not much interacting with your fellow players going on. Of course, I haven't been to the GE since the update so I hope this has changed. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually... swagcake
I think the RS environment was much cooler before the Grand Exchange. This was back in the times where people would use common trading spots such as Falador Park, Varrock Bank, Seers Village, and you would actually see people in Ardougne. Now think about it, when was the last time you have seen people in Seers, besides the flax bots, wc bots, and fletchers (potentially bots too). Ardougne is basically complete empty. Even Falador, which is supposed to be one of the central towns, is pretty much desolate these days. I liked the times where you could actually see other players outside of Varrock and Lumbridge... I get what you're saying, but I think thats nostalgia speaking... more then reason. I like the GE, I would just prefer to see it made more accessible (across the whole game) only 2 skills below level 50 :)
