Depends on what you wanted to do with the produce. I use Miscellania as my main method of herb and farm xp so I have 9 on maples and 6 on herb. 9 on maples is pretty standard as there is much to be made from seeds and nests. I believe for pure profit many people also place workers on coal.

I currently have 10 on coal and the other 5 on mahogony, im not sure if this is max profit and i plan to do a test with maple as well.

I do not use workers on herb anymore as the prices have gone way dow =P

(im not expert on this, this is just my own set up)

If u put workers on mahogany consider turning them into planks for extra cash.

Personally I still think maples is better, because of the value of magic and yew seeds, plus the money made from bird nests. (Use a mortar and crush them!)

I thought it was 9 maple, 6 coal? Im not sure, but i think 9 maple and 10 maple gives the same nests if you collect weekly.

9 maple if you collect daily or every 2/3 days

About how many birds nests can be collected in a week?

From 10 maples that is.
