Bot Bruising

Here's my little ol' solution to giving bots a black eye, or two. Random events will be changed so that they are mortal once again, expect this time when you die or fail to complete said random, X% of your current experience is deducted from the particular skill you are training. The X% increases, the higher your experience is as well. At 98 Woodcutting, if you completely fail a random, 5% of your current experience in Woodcutting disappears. Let's be honest, how can you not effectively complete a random at 98?

If you take exp away from a botter they'll just bot more, and eventually the bot will become good enough to do the random.

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Unfair to mis-clicks etc.

Imagine if u have lvl 99..thats 650k xp you'd lose for 1 slight error.

Or 5.2m xp for 120 dg

or 10mil xp if you have 200m

And as pointed out above 1) bots can do randoms, 2) it just means they bot more.

Random events really are not the answer to botting. They simply are not effective enough to stop bots and making them tougher hurts legit players too much.

and the most important flaw of this not actually stopping botting.

This. What needs to be done is that botters get a punishment that sets them back further then the botting brings them ahead.

Hate to break it to you, but the popular bots do all randoms 100% of the time. Hardly suprising given the ease of them and the fact they are very very rarely updated. Lets face it, jagex are pro botting as long as they're being paid membership fees.

Plus 5%, even at level 98, is only a few hours at most. Easily botted back.

It's called "bot bruising," for that simple reason, we'll never be able to eradicate them completely. More than often, each random provides a certain number of retries so mis-clicking more than two, or more times is highly unlikely. I agree though, despite the title, this problem does not stop botting as a whole. As for the statement above, you are placing your own hunch and nothing more.

Bot bruising is, to be blunt, completely retarted.

Ok, I wasn't completely blunt, but that's the censors fault.

How do you bruise bots in an effective measure? Whatever you take from them, they will just bot back. Plain and simple. Random events are not effective.

I still maintain that the best way Jagex could start getting rid of bots is perm-banning/stat-wiping botters they catch. People would be far more scared to bot and there wouldn't be any repeat offenders. It's not ideal, but it's far better then what we have now.

In some cases, it would make botters more apparent. Each time they completely fail a random, or sit in a random and mis-click for over 10 minutes, they're sticking their necks out a tad more for the bot detection team to inspect. To be blunt, these people would be considered the "retards," because nobody in the right mind mis-clicks for over 15 seconds, let alone 10 minutes. Also, haven't you noticed that Jagex has been doing that already? There are constant stat-wipes, and an occasional perm-ban here and there. What you suggested is already happening, take a few moments to read the RSOF, or rants section and you'll pick up a thread, or two.

I think you're not getting the gist of the replies, but some bots nowadays CAN solve randoms with extreme ease. They won't end up sitting around inside one for any more than a minute. Also, Jagex doesn't appear to be handing out many perm-bans, even for massively botted amounts of XP. Go look at Bwizzel's Adventurer Log - he's currently botting Runecrafting back up despite being rollbacked from 200M Magic and Hunter. The half-xp stat reductions that Jagex is carrying out just doesn't seem to be heavy-handed enough, as all these clowns do is just bot straight back up without giving a damn as to where their account is going.

@Both of you, that's a valid point, and if we all reflect on what's being said. It is a quite a safe hunch to say no matter what at this point, botting will remain the way it is.

  • 2 weeks later...

the only way to kill bots is to take out free trade or simple downgrade it to lets say 50k every hour this may not completely stop them but the the wild can stay this has no effect on bots but u take free trade away u take away bots so why don they do it?
