bearski1
Hey guys, I decided I want to get back into Runescape, but I haven't played since 2007. I was wondering if someone could get me up to speed with the big updates, and what high level players do these days.

Quyneax
Well, if we take 'high level player' to be the best way to max out/highest tier training methods: Attack, defence, ranged, hitpoints: Slayer w/ cannon.Magic: Woodcutting, mining, fishing.Strength: Slayer and dungeoneering.Slayer: Slaying until max combat, then effigies.Prayer: Dragon or frost dragon bones on house altar.Summoning: Granite lobs, swamp titans, iron titans, yaks with crims, saving blues until geysers.Mining/smithing: Concentrated gold with urns, superheating with gauntlets, dropping bars. Finish smithing with adamant plates/burial armour. Open effigies with mining.Woodcutting: Teaks w/ adze and urns. Open effigies.Fishing: C2 fishing while getting 120 dg, barbarian fishing with urns, alching or dropping. Open effigies.Hunter: Draconic and common jadinko's w/ Zamorak favour, arctic bear, witchdoctor gear. Open effigies.Agility/Runecrafting: Depending on cash pile, glacors/tds or crawlers/miths for effigies. Open & assist effigies.Herblore: Overloads.Farming: Depending on cash pile, torstol w/ juju, secateurs, super compost, remote farming or calquat, spirit tree and fruit+woodcutting trees.Crafting: Most efficient leather body for powertraining, or battlestaves. Assist effigies.Construction: Oak doors or mahogany tables. Assist effigies.Cooking: Wines.Firemaking: Magic logs w/ pyrelord or jadinko lair w/ adze if poor. Open effigies.Thieving: Monkey knife fighters or duo pyramid plunder. Open effigies.Fletching: Broad arrows or stringing magic long bows. Fallstar
I'm pretty sure arctic pines are faster than teaks for woodcutting. Asmodean <
Quyneax
I'm pretty sure arctic pines are faster than teaks for woodcutting.Yes, but there's two reasons I don't list them: firemaking xp and high clicking intensity/mousekey requirement. You must split the logs as well as chop them for arctic pines to be better, and you can't alch the resulting split logs afaik. Using an adze would lower your woodcutting xp/hr. That being said, pines could be better, I'm not sure. Fallstar
Using an adze with arctic pines is still more woodcutting xp/hr than teaks. Even just filling your inventory, splitting all then dumping on the pile is more wc xp/hr, and if doing it by the cut one split one drop one method the difference becomes even more pronounced. Also the adze helps reduce clicking intensity quite a bit, makes it sustainable anyway. Asmodean <
