What would you best compare good Music with?

Featured Replies

So here I was, playing on my drums yesterday, just jamming a little with a CD of Placebo, and all of a sudden I thought: hey, good music is just like a great meal! At first I was going:  about it, but I kept thinking of it and noticed the similarities.

Music has to suit your taste perfectly, every beat of the drums, every vibration of the guitars, every word and every pause between them. They all combine and form this wonderful song, much like ingredients of a mouthwatering meal do. If a little salt is needed, the cook adds a little salt where he wants it. In a song the drummer, the guitarist and the lead singer could be considered the cooks and the add a vibration here, a beat there, until a song becomes just perfect.

Call me a hippy for comparing those 2 irrelevant things, to me music is one of the things in life I can really take pleasure in, and who does not enjoy a great meal?

So here's my question: what would you guys compare with music? Is there anything you can compare with it or is it just an unnamed feeling you can't really describe?

Bill Hicks[/url]":dhj2kan9]Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is, that it is vibrating. And since all vibrations are theoretically sound, then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such.

Good music is like a transvestite. When you play/pass it in a crowd, everyone stops to hear/see it.

Well, thats one way to look at it....

A good roller coaster is like a good song. The first time you hear it, you're not sure what to expect, and it can seem kind of hard to follow or appreciate it. By the second ride/listening, you're familiar with it enough to appreciate the changes, to enjoy the seperate parts to it. Eventually, you start anticipating your favorite places/sections and just appreciate the ride. And they both get old through overuse.

Oh.... Now I get it.

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.
