Buying an Electric (Guitar) - Need Advice

insane

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm looking to buy an electric fairly soon (by summer hopefully), and I need some advice on what to buy.

I like playing blues, jazz, etc. I'm not into hardcore distortion or grunge, that kind of deal, I just want a nice clean electric feel/sound, with a little room for distortion, but not too much.

My friend suggested a Hollow-body, and I'm sure that's what I'll go for, but I need to know what make. My friend suggested a Gretch. If that's how you spell it.

Either way, I'm looking to spend max $900 CAD on it.

Imabez RG, theres afew so get a cheaper one, a good low cost one can be about 400?

Ibanez is known for good quality guitars that make a clean sound.

It doesnt matter so much about the type of body, more the pickups and the type of fretboard. Have fun :)

The Ibanez RG is mainly for overdriven sounds, and the body will matter a whole lot. Solid bodies, semis and hollow bodies sound alot different.

You should check out Rondo Music. High quality guitars for low prices because of no middle man. Check out these...

That last one is a bargain. Set neck, maple body, gorgeous finish. Should suit you nicely.

Dreaming of that face again

It's bright, and blue, and shimmering

Grinning wide

And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes

I'm looking for something quite a bit more expensive, by $900 max I meant I want to spend from 800-900... I'm not saying those are bad guitars, I just want to be sure I'm getting something very very good that will last me a good while that I could play in a band possibly. I was looking at Gretsch's earlier, and they look incredible. Problem is, the cheapest is over $2000... I'm looking for something mid-range.

Thats what everyone says about Agile guitars. Replacing the pickups and getting it set up will make this a high end guitar that you won't need to replace. Look for user reviews on them. The reason the prices are so low is because they're sold direct - No middle man = no price jackup.

Mm I'm really looking for not a solid body though, what do you think about this one?

Fender '72 Telecaster Thinline

It's a semi-hollow body, it's $700, and it's gotten great reviews, with more than half of them from people playing jazz/blues, which is what I'd want it for.

Any thoughts? It's no Tennessee Rose, but it's not costing $2400 either.

I think it will be a great for you, I used to have one and I loved it. Sold it to buy a strat which I loved more though.

The sound is great,I played country, jazz, blues and rock on it. And it is a very easy guitar to play on. (For being a Fender.)

I bought it new from the store and I remember I needed adjust it alittle when I bought it, aswell as fixing a minor eletrical problem like a month after I got the guitar.

A recent study shows that 92% of all teenagers have small purple pet elephants named Jack. Put this in your sig if you are one of the 8% who like to do the fandango on Wednesday afternoons

Fenders play well, especially in accompaniment with a Fender Precision Bass 8) I'ev never played one like the Tennessee Rose, but I hear they are great for that style. BB King plays/played one like that if I'm not mistaken.
