When you change from crossbow (with Rapid style) to Enchanced Excalibur - Excalibur attack style goes to Defensive.

And when you change back from Excalibur to crossbow again the crossbow's attack style is automatically changed to long range instead of rapid which is what it was at start.

Not a bug most items with non-melee based choices will go to the defensive option (so 3rd or 4th) on pulling a melee weapon out.

But then in turn swapping a melee item to a non-melee item the choice tends to be done by numerics. Top left being 1, right 2, bottom left 3 right 4 it goes to the nearest number. As defensive on melee weapons is 3 or 4 it will go to option 3 on crossbows.

 

Basically swapping between weapons that have defensive/accurate/aggressive/controlled and that have other choices (so usually rapid, accurate and long range) is always somewhat erratic.

 

You get similar outcomes with polypore. Polypore will always start on the accurate/rapid choice and will always (regardless of accurate/rapid or long range) go to the first option on melee weapons.

...so that is why I ended up leveling Def in Dung :wall: (I was trying to make a turmoil zerk account; but for some reason, now explained, I leveled defence while killing bosses in dungeoneering)
