Squakus
2 days ago I started having this problem where my screen would freeze and I would get kicked out of the game. This mainly happened in dungeoneering when the boss room got opened, and today it happened to me in darkmeyer. I had the dev console open, and the numbers in the boxstarted rising really quickly until they reached 160000 then dropping to 120000 and rising quickly again. How do I fix the problem? Would trying to update java help? I update it whenever an orange icon appears in the taskbar and I'm currently running java version 1.6.0_31. I should probably add, that when this happens I am unable to load any other webpages, so idk if the problem is with my internet or not. Nobody
I had the same problem (Pre FPS fix) but I found that switching to Direct X instead of Software helped a ton. Even now using the Software option I DC a lot but no issues on Direct X. Not sure if this even relates to you but just in case. :P With love to one, friendship to many, and good will to all. D. V. Devnull
Dedicate less memory to the client.Memory adjustments are no longer possible since Java 6u10. Oracle, developers of Java, made it so any web developer can override whatever memory adjustment settings you have in place. Even my own memory increase adjustments are no longer functional due to this, and I really needed my Java to always initialize at 384 MB! Now RuneScape performs worse for me and I really can't do anything about it, which very much means that squakus can't do anything either. :( Well, unless they need to update a graphics driver or something, but that likely won't work either. Damned awful Java loader and applet programming... Jagex really needs to get their [bleep] in order. <_< ~D. V. D. V. Devnull
You can adjust memory for the client, just not the browser version.Jagex should have made that an option for the browser version as well. It's possible, because all they have to do is add a configuration item to the "Java Options" page on the website and set a cookie. They could then read that cookie, and send back a page that uses that setting for maximum heap. :geek: Unluckily, they didn't have that foresight, and as far as I knew, it couldn't be changed anywhere. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll remember the client can to it when I give any future information handouts. :) Personally, though, I find it angering that they only allow it in their semi-vulnerable browser client. You know what they say, all it takes is one bad advert slipping through to kill your computer! (Heck, it's the reason that some people get stupid and say RuneScape gave their computer a virus, when that isn't true and the overhead advert did it!) ~D. V. Squakus
Updating to java 7 seems to have fixed the problem, though for all I know the problem could have been totally unrelated. Btw D.V. (or anyone else who knows), how do u get those emoticons in the titlebar of your post? D. V. Devnull
Updating to java 7 seems to have fixed the problem, though for all I know the problem could have been totally unrelated.Glad to hear you were able to fix your issue, even if only temporarily, with a Java upgrade. :shades: Unluckily, this could mean that Jagex is getting ready to throw another "Upgrade or Quit" problem at everyone. Of course, that's only a conspiracy theory. <_< Off-topic:Btw D.V. BTW, you must be in the Full Editor to do so. Have fun checking it out! ~D. V. "Final thoughts, and a question answered..."
